Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : New Haven, CT 06510 (Connecticut nursing jobs)

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1,880 - $2,020

Healthcare Setting : Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown Unit, Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 14 / 2025, End : 2 / 13 / 2026)

Nursing Shift : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 - 07 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Guaranteed Hours : Yes

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Charting System : Epic

Patient Ratios : 1 : 4

Block Scheduling : Available

Floating : Within pediatric units as needed

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric stepdown RN experience (1.5 years accepted with Level I Trauma or travel nursing experience)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (CT license required; pending accepted)

BLS certification required

PEARS certification preferred

Experience with Level I Trauma Center patients required

Preferred : Previous travel nurse experience

Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Experience caring for pediatric patients with cardiac, endocrine, nephrology, respiratory, GI, and genetic diagnoses

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

One professional reference required

Not accepting local candidates (must reside >

75 miles from facility)

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients (ages 0-20) with cardiac and complex medical conditions

Monitor and manage dysrhythmias and other cardiac issues

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, social services)

Utilize Epic for accurate and timely clinical charting

Float within pediatric units as needed to support hospital operations

Participate in rapid response and emergency interventions

Educate and support patients and families with compassionate care

Comply with hospital policies, infection control, and safety protocols
