Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Controls Engineers, Applications Engineers, Fluid System Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to provide machine control system solutions for the operation of Friction Welding Machines.
  • Proficiently create electrical schematics (AutoCAD and / or AutoCAD Electrical and ePLAN) and Bills of Materials documentation.
  • Interpret controls systems requirements from various project scope documents.
  • Implement ANSI and ISO machine design and safety standards.
  • Develop machine sequence and control flow charts.
  • Develop Human Machine Interface programs for machine control via Siemens and Allen Bradley products.
  • Develop design documentation such as theory of operation, help files, machine set-up and operation instructions and detailed technical specifications.
  • Provide technical support to Service Technicians and customers, as needed.
  • Participate in efforts for the design, architecture and programming conventions of Controls and Software applications and contribute to the improvement of existing designs.
  • Advocate, maintain, and train to MTI controls standards, verification and validation methods and techniques.
  • Grow and develop experience and understanding of machinery, machine controls, programmable logic controllers, human machine interface and their control software.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills coupled with a motivated self-starter attitude will ensure success in this role.

Required Skills or Competencies

  • Strong communication skills : both verbal and written inclusive of the ability to listen actively, give and receive feedback, be respectful of others' ideas and using clear, concise speech and appropriate body language.
  • Desire to learn and grow both professionally and technically inclusive of ability to learn new processes.

  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving results and meeting goals timely.
  • Experience using Allen Bradley and / or Siemens PLC programming systems.
  • Implement ANSI and ISO machine design and safety standards.
  • Create, read, and edit electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control station layouts, electrical enclosure panel layouts, Bills of Material, and all electrical control hardware related documentation.
  • Proficiency with Human Machine Interface System
  • Experience with machine debugging and / or machine commissioning.
  • Value engineering standardized practices as defined by the organization.
  • Demonstrated thorough documentation methods and practices.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US permanently.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Must conduct oneself with the highest level of professional and ethical standards.
  • Preferred Skills or Competencies

  • PLC / Motion Control Programming with platforms such as : TIA Portal, Step 7
  • HMI Design with FactoryTalk View / Studio 5000 View Designer, FactoryTalk Optix, WinCC
  • Electrical schematic and panel design using AutoCAD Electrical and / or ePLAN
  • Programming Languages : Structured Text, Function Block Programming
  • Automation Integration, Robots, Vision Systems, Barcode Scanners
  • Control Safety Systems : GuardLogix, PROFISafe, PILZ
  • CE Compliance (European safety standard)
  • Travel availability; ability to travel domestically and internationally
