Location : Houston, TX

Pay Rate : $39 / hour

Schedule : Monday - Friday | 7 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM

Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking an experienced Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator for a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and analytical skills, prior POCT experience, and a solid background in laboratory quality and compliance.

Position Overview

The POCT Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of point-of-care testing to ensure quality, compliance, and efficiency. This includes managing quality control and proficiency testing, monitoring regulatory compliance, maintaining POCT systems, and coordinating with clinical departments to improve overall testing accuracy and workflow.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of POCT programs; identify and recommend process improvements.

Coordinate the evaluation, validation, and implementation of new test methodologies and instrumentation.

Develop and maintain written procedures for all POCT processes and updates.

Perform data management system functions, including workstation maintenance, system checks, and operator oversight.

Investigate and resolve POCT flags, unknown operators, and patient identification issues.

Standardize test procedures across departments to promote consistency and efficiency.

Conduct annual reviews of POCT manuals at all sites and update as needed.

Collaborate with department leadership and Pathology administration to develop and implement POCT policies.

Maintain effective communication and collaboration with clinical teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science (Required)

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience (Required)

Certification : One of the following (Required) :

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - ASCP

Medical Technologist (MT) - ASCP

Preferred Skills :

Prior POCT coordination experience

Knowledge of Telcor QML or similar POCT information systems

Strong multitasking, problem-solving, and communication abilities

Quick learner with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain compliance standards
