Overview

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Analyst to support the preparation, review, and administration of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets. This role involves collaborating closely with department leaders, analyzing financial data, and preparing reports and recommendations to ensure effective and efficient budget management.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the development of forms, materials, and reports for annual budget preparation.

Review and analyze departmental budget submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Evaluate proposed initiatives or agenda items for fiscal impact and budget requirements.

Partner with department managers to address budget-related questions and identify solutions.

Prepare performance and efficiency reports throughout the budget year.

Develop recommendations for addressing shortfalls and balancing accounts.

Review and process departmental requests for budget transfers.

Reconcile expenditures and transactions to maintain accurate records.

Conduct research, data analysis, and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience : At least one (1) year of professional experience in municipal or government budgeting, billing, collections, or revenue management—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensing : Must possess a valid driver’s license (Florida or transferable equivalent).

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, financial regulations, and budgetary practices.

Proficiency in financial software, spreadsheets, and databases.

Skilled in data analysis, forecasting, and statistical reporting.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively across departments.
