Introduction

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Database Administrator to join our team in San Jose, CA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our database systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with Teradata database systems and a passion for optimizing database performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
  • Experience with installing, configuring, and upgrading Teradata database systems
  • Strong understanding of user account management and security protocols
  • Proficiency in performing routine data backups and managing recovery processes
  • Experience in monitoring database health and setting up alerts

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL query optimization and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with Teradata Workload Manager (TWM / TDWM)
  • Knowledge of capacity planning and growth management strategies
  • Experience in developing and testing disaster recovery plans
  • Understanding of advanced security features and compliance requirements

    • Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade Teradata database systems and utilities
  • Create and manage user accounts, roles, and profiles to control database access
  • Perform routine data backups and manage recovery processes
  • Monitor database health and performance metrics, setting up alerts for potential issues
  • Diagnose and resolve common database-related problems
  • Optimize SQL queries and implement advanced techniques to enhance system performance
  • Design and manage Teradata Workload Manager rules
  • Analyze usage patterns and plan for future growth and upgrades
  • Develop and test disaster recovery strategies
  • Implement advanced security features and conduct security audits
