  • The Manager, AAC Program is responsible for managing all aspects of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Assistive Technology (AT) services, in alignment with the Association’s Independence & Mobility guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • This role involves day-to-day operations, program development, tracking, reporting, stakeholder communication, and technical support. This position requires a blend of technical, logistical, and customer-facing skills to support people living with ALS across multiple states.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to : Manage daily logistics related to AAC device preparation, shipping, returns, and related accessories (e.g., mounts).
  • Maintain and update inventory across physical and virtual platforms; coordinate with volunteers and vendors to ensure accurate tracking and availability.
  • Perform device clearing, servicing, and basic troubleshooting both in-person and remotely.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with external AAC providers to facilitate referrals and service coordination.
  • Assist with the intake and assessment of donated equipment; oversee device retirement and reallocation processes.
  • Provide education to stakeholders and make appropriate referrals within the AAC program.
  • Oversee centralized device reallocation and deployment processes.
  • Provide remote AAC support in areas with limited on-the-ground resources.
  • Assist with tracking program metrics, data collection, and reporting to support continuous improvement.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., rehabilitation, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, assistive technology) — or in lieu of education, a minimum of 4–6 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Certification or licensure (ATP, OT, or SLP) preferred.
  • Experience with AAC and assistive technology Minimum of one year experience with durable medical equipment and complex rehab needs specific to ALS is a plus.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel; occasional evening / weekend availability.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong organizational and logistics management skills.
  • Comfortable with technology; capable of basic troubleshooting and remote support.
  • Prior experience with AAC / AT devices or a demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear, compassionate communication with families and team members.
  • Familiarity with JAMF, Salesforce, Quick Assist, Apple Business Manager, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing program needs across regions.
  • Committed to consistency, standardization, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Background in assistive technology, rehabilitation, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology is preferred.
  • PAY TRANSPARENCY :

  • The ALS Association’s pay range for this position is $50,649 - $79,347 annually.
  • The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets.
  • The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate's primary work location.
  • Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties / requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation.
  • Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis.
  • Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.
  • The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance.
  • The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
