Regional Safety Managers implement, direct, and monitor safety initiatives to promote and create a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations within assigned region. Regional Safety Managers ensure adherence to safety standards and the development of safety goals and objectives. This position reports to the Area Safety Manager.

Responsibilities of Position :

• Manage the day-to-day safety operations of the region / location and provide leadership and support to managers in ensuring safety standards are met
• Develop, implement, direct, and monitor safety initiatives to promote and create a safe working environment
• Uncover and promote growth and continuous improvement opportunities to safety
• Direct and facilitate accident investigation process, root cause analysis & follow-up for motor vehicle and industrial situations and oversee closure of corrective actions
• Plan and administer departmental budget and maintain cost effectiveness
• Conduct ongoing health & safety inspections of facilities, operations, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance of Corporate Safety, environmental, and governmental (DOT, OSHA, local agencies) policies and regulations
• Maintain a close working relationship with Human Resources and Worker’s Compensation administration
• Interact daily with sub-contracted employees and services to ensure DOT compliance where applicable
• Work cross-functionally to develop safety programs and awareness
• Analyze data trends to create action plans for region
• Work with Corporate Safety to develop training based upon needs and ensure process is in place to maintain appropriate documentation
• Review trends and keep current with regard to technical and regulatory standards for employee health and safety
• Provide leadership and exhibit professional conduct and open communication with internal and external customers
• Formulate short- and long-term goals and region action plans with the Area Safety Manager and the Regional Vice President
• Prepare and present reports as necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned
