Senior Risk Engineering Consultant, Equipment Breakdown – Liberty Mutual Insurance. 100% remote in the territory. Reports to the Equipment Breakdown Engineering Manager.

Base pay range

$74,000.00 / yr - $120,000.00 / yr

The Equipment Breakdown Risk Control group helps customers identify, quantify, mitigate, or eliminate serious threats to their businesses in support of Liberty Mutual's mission to help people live safer, more secure lives. The Equipment Breakdown Risk Control Consultant will provide jurisdictionally required inspections and other services to an assigned group of customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform jurisdictional inspections on boilers and pressure vessels within the assigned territory and report findings to the authority having jurisdiction and other interested parties. Support underwriters with risk assessment account reviews and serve as a technical resource to field claim adjusters.
  • Conduct extensive research and data collection to identify customer's source of risk, loss and costs. Compile facts from on-site visits and reports / databases to assess existing processes / practices, determine severity / frequency of problems, and identify needs. Assess and benchmark customer performance against internal and industry standards.
  • Interpret and analyze data to determine best course of action or solution that satisfies the customer's risk service needs. Utilize advanced software applications to identify innovative and cost-effective solutions. Conduct cost-benefit analysis to determine the payback of recommended improvements. Investigate cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Prepare technical reports evaluating data and presenting findings.
  • Organize data for presentation to customers. Prepare and present reports outlining an action plan for improved practices and / or changing workforce cultures / behaviors.
  • Maintain effective partnerships with customers. Learn about the customer's business to identify risk management objectives and needs. Communicate clearly and keep customers informed of service status, available support materials, and relevant resources.
  • Participate in training and development of customers. Oversee implementation of programs and provide technical support to implement recommendations / actions. Counsel customers on technical issues.
  • Pursue professional development to better meet customer expectations.
  • May actively participate in acquiring new business by following up on leads and presenting proposals to potential customers.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and listening skills to develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Proven ability in advanced level research, evaluation and analysis functions.
  • Proven ability to engage with all levels of an organization.
  • Effective leadership qualities.
  • Advanced understanding of loss prevention products, services, and operations within the realm of responsibility.
  • Successful demonstration of technical skills in risk assessment, risk analysis, solutions management and progress measurement.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with coursework in mathematics and engineering or related area, plus a minimum of 3 years of directly related consulting experience.
  • Experience substituting loss prevention expertise for education or vice versa may be considered as described.
  • NBIC – IS (in service) commission is preferred for the position.
  • Designation(s) or certification(s) preferred.
