Founded in 1983, the Spondylitis Association of America (SAA) is the first and largest nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to spondyloarthritis—a group of inflammatory diseases that primarily affect the spine and joints. With over 3.2 million Americans impacted, SAA provides trusted resources, education, advocacy, and support for patients and their families. We lead efforts in research and awareness, ensuring no one faces spondylitis alone. For over 40 years, we’ve focused on just one type of arthritis—yours.
The Program Coordinator plays a key role in supporting and delivering high-impact programs that serve the spondyloarthritis community. This position involves coordinating educational initiatives, support networks, awareness campaigns, and research engagement activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and passionate about nonprofit healthcare work.
Key Responsibilities :
Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient education and support programs (e.g. webinars, support groups, awareness campaigns).
Serve as a liaison for program participants, volunteers, and external partners.
Maintain and update program documentation, schedules, and records.
Assist in developing content for newsletters, educational materials, and program communications.
Support data collection and reporting for program performance and grant requirements.
Collaborate with the communications team to promote programs via website, email, and social media.
Help recruit, train, and support program volunteers and facilitators.
Monitor feedback and suggest improvements for program impact and user experience.
Participate in community outreach and virtual / in-person events representing SAA.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in public health, nonprofit management, social sciences, communications, or related field.
2+ years of experience in program coordination, preferably in a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and online project management tools (e.g. Trello, Asana).
Experience with email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is a plus.
Understanding of chronic illness, autoimmune disease, or patient advocacy is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a remote or hybrid team.
