Physical Therapist Aide - PRN

Summary : Responsible for provision and administration of specific physical therapy treatments only under the direct supervision of the staff Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapy Aide as directed and supervised by the staff Physical Therapist, assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Physical Therapy Aide participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Performs clerical duties, assists with posting of patient charges in the computer order entry system or on hardcopy invoice system. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety, and fire safety programs.

1. Responsible for providing specific treatment only as directed by the staff Physical

Therapist. Adheres to standards of physical medicine practice for neonate, pediatric,

adolescent, geriatric patients and the general patient population.

5. Maintains patient medical record forms, evaluations, educational handout distribution

7. Orders, stocks, maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment.

15. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other

departments.

16. Consults other departments as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and

performance improvement activities.

17. Participates in educational staff performance improvement in services. Assists with

orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participates in

guidance and educational programs.

18. Responsible for assuring that licensed staff Physical Therapist reviews and counter

signs aide's documentation.

19. Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training and organizational

safety and fire safety programs.

Requirements :

• High School graduate or GED certificate.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Recommended : minimum of one year experience as Physical Therapy Aide.
