Job Details
The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care including executing Licensed Independent Provider’s orders, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting Licensed Independent Provider in examinations and treatment of patients.
Applies nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care, treatment and referrals of inmates / residents.
Performs all technical / clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure.
Attends sick call with the physician to see inmates / residents; prepares list of inmates / residents to be examined; prepares examining room and equipment.
Operates pill call, dispenses medication and documents as required by policies and procedures.
Calls Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders, and emergencies.
Examines and assesses new or ill / injured inmates / residents; refers to emergency room or appropriate healthcare facility as required.
Performs emergency procedures as needed and notifies Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
Assists in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel and ensures their needs are addressed.
Job Requirements
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in California.
Must be able to perform nursing and supervisory techniques within scope of education and licensure.
Schedule Information
Contract length is 13 weeks.
Additional Details
Monitors inmate / resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
Provides guidance, supervises and monitors nursing care by licensed vocational / practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
Maintains good working relationships with facility staff, nursing staff, contract providers and outside agencies.
Utilizes corporate, facility and correctional policies and procedures in decision making, using sound independent judgment.
Regularly evaluates provision of medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication.
Maintains absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records.
Assists Health Service Administrator with review of medical files to ensure documentation of services.
