About The Position

Must-Have :

• PCU / IMC Experience within the Last 3 Years
• Ability to Float to Sister Units
• EPIC Charting System Experience

Description :

This is a mixed acuity unit that cares for PCU, MS Tele, and MS patients.

The nurse will work with adjusted ratios based on patient acuity.

Required skills include the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, post-MI care, and IV insulin protocol management.

Nursing responsibilities involve feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, and renal failure management.

The nurse must be adept at accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care.

Phlebotomy skills and the management of peripheral IV lines are necessary.

The role includes starting IVs and adhering to heparin protocols.

The nurse will manage cardiac drips without requiring titration and oversee PCA and thrombolytic agents.

Experience with CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal is essential.

Additional skills needed include care related to orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, and traction management.

Knowledge of chest tube management and non-invasive airway management is critical.

The nurse must be familiar with tracheostomy management and isolation precautions.

Wound care and the use of wound vacs will also be part of the job responsibilities.

Patient care will involve addressing diagnoses related to surgical pre and post-operative care, as well as overflow medical patients.

The nurse may encounter a rare pediatric patient, and travelers will not be assigned unless they have relevant experience.

The unit supports interdisciplinary collaboration, including respiratory services and social services.

Daily census includes adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.

Shifts entail every other weekend requirements and may include floating to corresponding sister units if necessary.

Preferred skills include TCAR experience.
