Bachelor's degree in Biology, Science Education, or a related field (required) Valid Louisiana teaching certification in Biology or eligibility to obtain one Experience teaching high school science preferred Strong knowledge of science content and inquiry-based instructional strategies Commitment to educational equity and high expectations for all students Comfort with integrating technology into instruction and a willingness to grow professionally in this area Be part of a mission-driven, innovative educational community Access to meaningful professional development, including training through the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program Opportunities to lead clubs, enrichments, and cross-disciplinary projects Make a lasting impact on students preparing for STEM careers and post-secondary success

About Helix Aviation Academy : Helix Aviation Academy is a STEM-focused, public charter school within the Helix Community Schools network, dedicated to empowering students through rigorous academics, real-world learning, and innovative technology integration.
Position Overview : Helix Aviation Academy is seeking a knowledgeable, student-focused Biology Teacher to deliver engaging and rigorous science instruction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biological sciences, a passion for inquiry-based learning, and a commitment to using technology to enhance student engagement and understanding.
Key Responsibilities :
- Plan and deliver high-quality, standard-aligned Biology instruction.
- Design lessons that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world application of biological concepts.
- Leverage technology tools and resources to enhance instruction and student learning in line with VILS standards.
- Use assessment data to differentiate instruction and support student progress.
- Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary and innovative learning experiences.
