About the Role

The Public Works Commission (PWC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electric Operations Engineer to support and enhance the technical performance of our electric system. What You'll Do
- Assist the Electric Operations Manager in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of PWC's electric system.
- Perform quality control and assurance for the Outage Management System (OMS).
- Develop and verify IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) setting files.
- Monitor and recommend improvements for SONET communication systems and self-healing networks.
- Collaborate with System Operations, Substations, and Electric Engineering to ensure protective coordination across the grid.
- Review and interpret engineering studies related to fault current and system loss analysis.
- Analyze data, recommend system modifications, and determine optimal placement of smart devices.
- Supervise assigned personnel and manage multiple technical projects.
- Participate in on-call rotations and work extended hours as needed.
What You Bring
Deep understanding of electric utility operations, safety regulations, and engineering principles.Proficiency in electrical construction, system protection, and smart grid technologies.Strong knowledge of NESC, OSHA 1910.269, and emergency response procedures.Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, perform technical evaluations, and lead system studies.Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.Proficiency in engineering software, data analysis, and reporting tools.Minimum Qualifications
Option A : Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering + 5 years of utility experience (PE in NC preferred).Option B : Bachelor's in Engineering + 10 years of utility experience.Option C : Master's in Engineering + 2 years of utility experience.Additional Requirements
