Tessera is seeking a dedicated, skilled, and safety-conscious Plumber / Pipefitter to join our mission-driven team supporting facilities at USAFA. This role plays a vital part in maintaining and repairing complex plumbing and piping systems that serve critical infrastructure across the installation. From steam and water systems to compressed air and fire suppression, you'll be hands-on with essential operations that keep the Academy running smoothly. Typical Duties Include But Are Not Limited To :
Lay Out and Measure Pipe Positions from Drawings and SpecificationsCut, Thread, Bend, and Assemble Pipe Using Hand Tools, Torches, and Pipe MachinesInstall and Repair Valves, Fittings, and Fixtures for Water, Gas, Steam, and Drainage SystemsPerform Standard Tests to Verify System Integrity and ComplianceInstall and Maintain Plumbing Fixtures (e.g., Sinks, Commodes, Bathtubs, Water Heaters, Dishwashers)Weld and Fabricate Pipe Supports and Holding FixturesMaintain and Repair Systems by Replacing Washers, Mending Burst Pipes, and Clearing BlockagesSupport Fire Suppression Systems; Ensure Compliance with NFPA Codes and Backflow Prevention StandardsRead and Interpret Building Plans, Work Drawings, and Technical MapsMaintain Accurate Records of Preventive Maintenance and RepairsOperate and Maintain Tools and Equipment SafelyPerform Duties in Confined Spaces, Adverse Weather, and Uneven TerrainQualifications :
Minimum 3 Years of Plumbing Experience; Journeyman / Master PreferredMinimum 2 Years of Pipefitting ExperienceCertified in Backflow Prevention to Ensure System Safety and ComplianceValid Plumbing Certifications One or More : American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE), American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA), or Association of Boards of Certification (ABC)Working Knowledge of NFPA Codes 13, 70, 72, and 101 Relevant to Fire Protection and Safety StandardsFire Suppression System Experience PreferredPhysical Requirements :
