Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for an ED Holds / Telemetry position in an acute care setting with a strong cardiac background and required AZ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting on the ED Holds / Telemetry unitPatient population includes ED holds waiting for inpatient placement, primarily medical-surgical / telemetry cases with cardiac focusNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 412-hour night shifts, with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduleMust work 2 of the 4 major holidays during the assignmentRequired to float to med / surg, telemetry, overflow units, and other EDs as neededCerner is used for documentation and chartingNo on-call requirementsNurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips; no monitor techsProvide care for ED hold patients, focusing on cardiac and telemetry monitoringAssist with ED patient care tasks including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration as needed, but will not serve as primary RN for ED patient assignmentED PCTs are available for supportOrientation includes two shifts on med / surg / tele at the primary campus and a pass / fail SIM LABNavy scrubs are required as dress codeHoliday coverage rotates with permanent staffFirst time travelers are welcome to applyCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility if residing in AZ, NV, NE, IA, or MNRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent (within 6 months) telemetry nursing experience, preferably with a strong cardiac backgroundCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS from AHA or APEXProficient in titrating and managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, AmiodaroneMust pass a dysrhythmia exam through RELIAS within 48 hours of offer (maximum 2 attempts)Pass / Fail SIM LAB on first day of orientationAble to read and interpret telemetry strips independentlyDriver’s license copy required for considerationCannot have been employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI / Dignity, within the past yearBenefits
