Extra High Voltage Overhead Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager at Black & Veatch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians
  • Manage diverse and challenging projects across our portfolio of design services and EPC programs
  • Oversee design quality, budget, and schedule
  • Support client interaction, proposals, and business development
  • Develop good working relationships with project leadership, design teams, and support staff
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to team members
  • Occasional travel to support site visits, design reviews, and client meetings
  • Ensure compliance with Black & Veatch quality program and maintain client and industry standards on assigned projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) or design services overhead transmission line projects for investor owned utilities in the United States
  • 11 years of experience in design of high voltage overhead transmission lines with knowledge of PLS-CADD, line routing, structural loading design, foundation design, and overall project lifecycle
  • Strong communication skills and initiative to engage with clients to grow relationships
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards
  • Working knowledge of interdisciplinary project coordination : procurement, subcontract administration, permitting, real estate and land acquisition, and construction support
  • Working knowledge of the proposal process and developing engineering estimates
  • P.E. license (highly preferred)
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program
  • Minimum of 11 years related work experience
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) as applicable
  • Certifications and Work Environment

  • Professional registration or licensure in the designated home country, or active pursuit of such registration
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days; occasional travel to client sites
