Job Summary
The Museum Store Associate supports the Getty stores as a professional and outgoing sales associate, operates a POS system, applies basic computer skills, and engages visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Museum Store Associates also manage financial transactions and assist with store upkeep, including inventory maintenance and routine cleaning.
Major Job Responsibilities
Provides excellent customer service, ensuring a positive guest experience
- Efficiently and accurately operate point-of-sale (POS) registers
- Handles financial transactions responsibly with accuracy according to department procedures
- Exhibits knowledge of store merchandise, exhibitions, events, and an understanding of Getty policies and procedures specific to the assigned work location
- Prepares store and / or satellite locations by restocking displays, maintaining store cleanliness, and preserving the overall presentation of the retail space
- May be assigned shifts in the warehouse or at an alternate store location
Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED1-2 years retail experience, preferably in a museum, specialty, or book storeKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing a friendly guest experienceStrong sales skills with an emphasis on customer engagementExcellent verbal communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated proficiency in operating a point-of-sale (POS) systemAbility to stand for up to 3 hours at a timeCapable of lifting items up to 38 pounds, pushing merchandise carts (weighing 55 lbs. to 100 lbs.) between store locations, operating hand trucks, and climbing laddersAbility to work a flexible weekly schedule, including evening shifts and weekendsAbility to work across various store locations, including outdoor settingsWillingness to learn and maintain knowledge of store merchandise and Getty policies and procedures specific to the assigned work location (Getty Center or Villa)Benefits and Perks
