Warehouse And Distribution Technician

Under the general supervision of the Supply Chain Operation Manager or Supply Tech Supervisor, the supply technician is responsible for but no limited to the following : receiving and delivery of goods / equipment, shipping of goods / equipment, storage, stocking and distribution of medical supplies, restocking of specialty carts and clinical par areas, and for the disinfection, storage and distribution of patient care equipment used by departments, clinics and nursing units throughout the Facility.

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or the Director.
  • Report any safety concerns regarding warehouse or warehouse equipment.
  • Responsible for review of PAR levels for supplies and obtaining feedback from department personnel, which may result in a change to the levels. PAR levels should be set at a level high enough to provide a minimum of three days of usage.
  • Process daily supply requisitions using the MMIS system. Pick, pack and deliver supplies to the requesting department.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and ensure customers are served timely.
  • Put away freight as instructed or scheduled ensuring that shelves are well-stocked (work out overstock). Break down boxes and ensure work area is free and clear of trash.
  • Communicate with the supervisor and / or buyer when taking the last item or when critical items are at a low stock level (use stock out process).
  • Restock assigned supply areas according to schedule and complete all the appropriate transactions in the MMIS system.
  • Monitor and rotate stock in assigned areas to prevent obsolescence and reduce spoilage.
  • Perform periodic cycle supply counts as assigned and / or during the General Store annual physical inventory.
  • Follows all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering and handling equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains supply rooms, storeroom, central supply and receiving areas clean, neat and orderly.

Shipping and Receiving Technician

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or the Director.
  • Follows all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering and handling equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains supply rooms, storeroom, central supply and receiving areas clean, neat and orderly.
  • Meets delivery vehicles at the loading dock and assist in unloading supplies and equipment.
  • Verifies quantity delivered against freight bill and acknowledges receipt by signing the bill of lading.
  • Inspects all goods delivered and reports immediately any visible damage to the driver and to the buyer. Writes the nature of the damage and the quantity of the goods affected on the bill of lading before signing it.
  • Opens each box or package received to verify the integrity of the contents and that the quantity, unit of measure, description and order number match the quantity, unit of measure, description and order number on the packing slip.
  • Delivers inventory items to General Store and special orders items directly to the department indicated on the purchase order. Obtains a legible signature by the person receiving the merchandise on the delivery ticket and leaves a copy with the merchandise. Returns the goods to receiving or to the store if no one is available to accept and sign.
  • Receives and tags capital equipment and notifies BioMed (for all patient care equipment), Plant Maintenance (for equipment and / or furniture needing assembly) or Information Services (for all computer equipment) as appropriate.
  • Completes the Capital Equipment receiving form and forwards it to the capital equipment buyer.
  • Prepares return goods shipments and ships equipment and / or supplies to the vendor for credit or repair. Maintains a log of all the shipments by date, listing purchase order number (if applicable), item description and Freight Company.
  • Maintains, if possible, a valid Texas driver's license and insurance eligibility to be able to drive Company vehicles if needed in an emergency.
  • Equipment Distribution Technician

  • Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Ensures that all equipment in the centralized equipment room are plugged into electrical sources if applicable.
  • Ensures that all equipment requiring repair are logged and either taken to biomed for repair or sent back to the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Maintains consignment inventory and ensures that all documentation related to the issuance of the equipment is complete and accurate. Also responsible for ensuring documentation is accurate and complete for new inventory being placed in equipment room.
  • Ensures that all equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to the manufacturer recommendations or central supply guidelines.
  • Follows all applicable infection control procedures when storing, delivering and handling equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains the par levels on clinical units for all designated equipment in clean utility room.
  • Checks, exchanges and restocks the crash carts, disaster cart and traction cart as needed.
  • Will assist in obtaining supplies for customers from the central supply distribution area and ensures that item(s) are expensed / issued out in the MMIS system as needed.
  • Responsible for the return of rental equipment including calling vendor for pick up and maintaining adequate records.
  • Education and / or Experience :

  • High School diploma or GED required, additional certification relevant to the job duties from a college or technical school preferred; minimum six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
