The IEDC is organized as a public private partnership led by the Secretary of Commerce and governed by a board chaired by the Governor of Indiana.

Role Overview :

Project Manager serves as the key Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) representative for select counties of the Northern Indiana Region. Responsible for management of IEDC projects within assigned areas of responsibility, with focus on negotiation of economic development deals taking place within assigned regions and fostering relationships with key partners and stakeholders. This position has flexibility in office location to be within Northern Indiana.

Salary Statement :

The salary range for this position is 63,787 - 65,000 annually.

A Day in the Life :

  • Manages and negotiates competitive expansion and business attraction projects
  • Builds and maintains relationships with economic development partners
  • Visits local businesses and officials to assess needs and identify opportunities
  • Monitors activities within the assigned region and reports to IEDC leadership
  • Attends conferences and events concerning business development
  • Provides technical assistance for business attraction and expansion projects
  • Updates the IEDC CRM database with project information
  • Provides general support to Business Development leadership

What You'll Need for Success :

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience
  • Experience :

  • Appropriate business background, particularly in business deal negotiation and economic development
  • Preferred : 1-3 years in economic development or related field
  • Preferred : International Business Development experience
  • Knowledge of :

  • Core industries to the State of Indiana
  • Economic development, sales, and program management processes
  • Regional community and business development organizations
  • Regional business climate and state economic development laws
  • Indiana government structure
  • Ability to :

  • Identify leverage in business deals
  • Negotiate complex business transactions
  • Lead and present unified responses to company requests
  • Plan site tours
  • Analyze and evaluate business and community needs
  • Travel frequently within Northern Indiana and the State
  • Communicate clearly and directly
  • Maintain residency within Northern Indiana
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Manage time effectively
  • Operate computers and technology
  • Exercise tact and diplomacy
