Legal Assistant / Paralegal

We are a vibrant, busy, and growing full-service law firm looking to increase to its talented ranks of professional staff by adding a Legal Assistant with a demonstrated interest and experience of 1-3 years in a legal administrative capacity.
Key Responsibilities :
- Client Intake & Communication
Answer phones, take accurate messages, and ensure theyre routed with appropriate urgency and followup to resolution
Greet clients and coordinate communications in a professional, clientfocused mannerCalendar & Docket ManagementMaintain detailed calendar for guardianship practice.
Schedule and coordinate internal and external meetings, court appearances, and client appointmentsDocument Preparation & FilingService of legal documents; prepare simple pleadings and assemble exhibits for court filings
Create, edit, format, and proofread letters, memos, and other documents in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookEfile with NYSCEF and other portals; coordinate service of process via service companiesFile documents with state and administrative agencies (electronic and paper), ensuring compliance with deadlinesAdministrative SupportArrange conference calls and meetings; manage travel and expense reports
Create and maintain paper and electronic files; handle photocopying, scanning, and printing requestsOpen new client matters, run conflict checks, and submit electronic approvalsSpecial Projects & LearningAssist with basic legal research and case summaries in guardianship and elderlaw matters
Participate in training sessions and take on ad hoc projects to develop paralegal skillsKnowledge, Skills & Attributes
1-3 years of experience providing administrative support in a legal environment (paralegal internships or coursework considered)Experience with e-filing documents with NYSCEF strongly preferredFamiliarity with elder law or guardianship matters is a plusBachelors degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not requiredProactive, anticipatory thinker with excellent clientservice and problemsolving skillsStrong interpersonal abilities; works cooperatively with all levels of staffSolid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to think clearly and work well under pressure in a fastpaced environmentBenefits
