Join our team as Payroll Manager and play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations for the College. This position oversees the full payroll cycle, leads a dedicated payroll services team, and collaborates across departments to support both payroll and general accounting functions within the Finance Division.

Under administrative supervision, the Payroll Manager oversees all payroll operations for the College and supports general accounting functions within the Finance Division. Key responsibilities include supervising Payroll Services staff, managing payroll processing and data entry, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Works closely with other departments to ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also contributing to broader financial operations as needed.

Oversee the full payroll cycle, ensuring accuracy of salary payments, deductions, tax withholdings, and benefits in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Supervise payroll staff, assign tasks, provide training, and support professional development.

Prepare and analyze payroll reports including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (e.g., IRS Form 941, W-2s) and process off-cycle / manual checks as needed.

Maintain payroll records, track leave balances, and ensure proper allocation of deductions and benefits.

Reconcile payroll with the general ledger and trial balance; support internal audits and resolve discrepancies.

Manage timekeeping for non-exempt employees, ensuring FLSA compliance and accurate approvals.

Monitor data integrations across HRIS, timekeeping, and financial systems to ensure data integrity.

Support internal and external audits, addressing and resolving any findings to ensure regulatory compliance.

Perform and oversee reconciliations and internal audits to validate payroll accuracy

Oversee payroll for contract employees, ensuring compliance with terms and accurate payments.

Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and external partners to support payroll operations and reporting.

Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries, resolving issues promptly and professionally.

Completes other responsibilities and duties as assigned

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
