Description : Job Purpose :

The Maintenance Technician will be an integral part of the maintenance team and functions independently and as a team member. This position is an hourly position reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, but technical capability, leadership and personal communication skills are essential to fulfilment of responsibilities. This position will work closely with department Leaders and SMEs towards delivery of increased equipment reliability, energy savings, peer training, competency development and implementation of new practices and technologies.

Principal accountabilities :

• Always ensure full compliance with Oxerra and local site EHS and Business Conduct Policies, Guidelines and Rules.
• Provides technical leadership for his discipline and is widely considered a SME on mechanical equipment and systems.
• Assembles, installs, aligns, maintains, repairs, inspects and dismantles machinery, equipment, pipe systems, pipe supports, related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and physical structures in an industrial chemical manufacturing environment.
• Troubleshoots, diagnoses irregularities and malfunctions, adjusts, repairs or replaces parts, cleans and lubricates machinery.
• Reads, interprets, and follows specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Uses hand tools, power tools, machine tools, welding and cutting equipment, hoists, cranes, jacks, forklifts and access equipment, and precision measuring, testing and layout tools.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and detects malfunctions through sensory tests to locate problem sources.
• Performs preventive and predictive maintenance, using data collectors and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Analyzes, interprets and records equipment performance and repair data for cost and resource management purposes and mechanical fault prediction.
• Maintains, organizes, stores, inspects and cleans personal protective equipment and safety equipment employed.
• Has knowledge of safe practices for isolating, de-energizing locking and tagging out equipment and follows recognized procedures for shutdown in conjunction with Permit to Work systems.
• Maintains a safe work environment, follows company health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Recognizes and reports personal injury and potential hazards and shares ownership of their elimination.
• Maintains Housekeeping standards in regular work areas and storage areas.
• Completes work-related documentation including work orders, PM records, parts requisitions, work execution reports and service records in written and electronic form.
• Other duties assigned by management.
