Job Description

The Manual Machinist will be responsible for producing precision parts, maintaining tight tolerances, and ensuring components meet customer specifications. This role requires hands-on experience with manual machine tools and a solid understanding of machining principles. The machinist will work in the manual machining area, creating and repairing components for custom fabricated equipment used in heat treating and core machining products. The role includes using drill presses, manual grinders, and reading blueprints to make plates, with a necessary understanding of GD&T principles due to the tight tolerances required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and boring bars to machine parts to specification.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders.
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
• Measure and verify parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure safe operation.
• Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and engineers to resolve machining challenges.
• Maintain quality and production standards while meeting deadlines.

Work Environment

This position operates on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 7am to 3 : 30pm, with occasional flexibility up to 4 : 30pm. The role is based in a custom job shop setting, involving collaboration with a team of skilled professionals.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00 / hr.
