OVERVIEW : Manuel Diaz Law Firm, PC. is seeking a dynamic, self-starting individual with vision, initiative, and a demonstrated commitment to lead the Immigration Law Department.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP : Reports to the Chief Legal Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The principal duties of the Supervising Immigration Attorney will be to manage, coach and develop a team of attorneys and paralegals. Other responsibilities include :

  • Monitor small, specialized caseload for deadlines and action need.
  • Manage team member’s caseloads and workload distribution.
  • Periodically review open and closed cases for proper recordkeeping and file maintenance.
  • Prepare and submit filings for USCIS, DOS, and EOIR.
  • Prepare filings and conduct hearings before EOIR.
  • Prepare FOIA requests for federal government agencies, prepare FBI background checks, conduct open records requests of state and local police agencies and conduct searches of court records.
  • Act as lead counsel and co-counsel on immigration cases, working closely with staff attorneys to ensure high-quality legal representation.
  • Establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with clients, staff, opposing attorneys, court employees and judicial officers.
  • Conduct and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Mentor, coach and training paralegals and staff attorneys of the immigration department.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and handle corrective action or disciplinary issues for the immigration department with the assistance of the Chief Legal Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • A minimum of 5+-years relevant legal experiences and a demonstrated, zealous commitment to Immigration Law.
  • Experience in USCIS cases (family-based petitions, asylum protections, U Visa / T Visa / VAWA waivers) and consular processing cases.
  • Experience in employment-based immigration applications is not required, though it is a plus.
  • Experience in EOIR cases (LPR and non-LPR cancelation of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, motion to reopen, bond hearings and adjustment of status).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a sense of accountability.
  • Our firm has offices throughout the DFW Metroplex and an office in San Antonio, therefore, occasional travel may be required.
  • Management experience required.
