Overview

Heavy Equipment Supervisor (Engineers) – Jacksonville, Florida. The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) provides maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces. This position is located in Jacksonville, FL.

Job Summary

As the Heavy Equipment Supervisor, you will supervise and coordinate all activities of engineer equipment mechanics engaged in repairing, adjusting, and servicing construction equipment / vehicles. You will manage equipment readiness, maintenance shop organizations, maintain maintenance assets, and provide advice on all matters relating to engineer equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure mechanics are properly trained in all maintenance functions.
  • Manage maintenance scheduling to determine the sequence of assignments based on equipment condition and priority.
  • Monitor workmanship to optimize use of equipment, facilities, and personnel.
  • Keep track of repair parts and equipment inventory, including requisitions for replacement stock.
  • Inspect work performed to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
  • Interpret specifications, drawings, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.
  • Coordinate department activities with other departments as needed.
  • Enforce compliance with administrative policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ensure employees adhere to safety requirements, procedures, and policies.
  • Supervise and manage the administration of workspace for engineer equipment repair.
  • Recommend changes to procedures as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with MPF ISO-9002 policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of mechanics performing automotive maintenance and repair of motor transport vehicles and equipment.
  • Determine work sequence based on priority and quantity of equipment to optimize resources.
  • Maintain inventory of repair parts and equipment; inspect work to ensure compliance with specifications and time schedules.
  • Coordinate department activities with other departments and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping standards in the maintenance workspace.
  • Supervise and manage workspace for motor transport equipment repair.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be able to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and obtain a Secret Clearance. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Associate's degree and / or coursework toward a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline preferred. In lieu of a degree, related work experience and formal training may be considered.
  • 8 years of directly related work experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience in engineer equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Complete the Engineer Officers Course, or equivalent.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to determine the extent of repairs needed based on analysis, user reports, inspection reports, and vehicle records.
  • Proficiency in organization, management, operation, and conduct of technical inspections of engineer equipment.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance procedures and adherence to established methods, quality standards, and time schedules.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Army MOS 91L or 91X
