Dental Hygienist will provide dental hygiene services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions. Trained in the use of medical stabilizations and hoyer transport systems for daily patient treatment.
Dental Hygienists prevent and treat disease, disorders and conditions of the oral cavity. Duties may include taking and developing dental x-rays, cleaning teeth, placing sealants and fluorides on the teeth, teaching patients how to brush and floss properly, and reviewing medical histories. Experience in administering local anesthesia / nitrous oxide preferred but not required.
Supervision of Dental Hygiene students performing clinical treatment on special needs patients. Will evaluate student performances with a competency on their last day.
Ability to participate as investigator in various research / studies performing recruitment, acquiring documents and data collecting of participants.
Minimum Qualifications
Two or four year Dental Hygiene degree.
Ohio Dental Hygienist license by the Ohio State Dental Board
1 year of clinical dental hygiene experience required, 3-5 years of experience preferred.
Experience with patients having intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
CPR certification required.
