Position Overview
The PV & ESS O&M Technician Level 2 will perform intermediate-level operations and maintenance activities at solar and energy storage facilities with appropriate supervision. This technician will execute mechanical tasks and level-specific electrical work safely while developing advanced troubleshooting and analytical skills. The Level 2 technician will take on increased responsibilities including preventative maintenance leadership, intermediate troubleshooting, and mentorship of junior technicians. This role requires demonstrated proficiency in electrical theory, system analysis, and safety procedures across commercial, and utility-scale installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and warranty-required maintenance per manufacturer specifications by completing maintenance checklists, detailed service reports, and documented corrective actions.
- Conduct mechanical and electrical tests using industry standard test equipment demonstrating accurate test logs, calibration records, and test result summaries.
- Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks, serving as safety second for work crews by documenting meeting notes, attendance sheets, and safety observations.
- Analyze system performance using environmental data and system specifications through completing thorough performance analysis reports and identify areas for optimization.
- Execute intermediate troubleshooting and corrective maintenance activities through work orders with resolution notes and photographic evidence of repairs.
- Perform thermal scans, log issues, and repair potential problems as appropriate in the thermal imaging reports, issue logs, and repair confirmations.
- Troubleshoot and repair system data and communication protocols and equipment in your diagnostic logs, updated wiring schematics, and resolved communication alerts.
- Collect information for and submit warranty claims to manufacturers ensuring to complete warranty claim packages and follow-up documentation.
- Conduct acceptance, performance, and recommissioning tests through Test protocols, commissioning reports, and signed acceptance documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and execute solutions for common problems and including these in your reports.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Level 1 technicians.
- Interact with remote monitoring systems and interpret diagnostic information and reporting on system performance and health.
- Designate site-specific fall protection system requirements by creating a fall protection plan and inspection logs.
- Assess and communicate roof and mounting structure conditions through inspection reports and documented recommendations.
- Follow building and equipment isolation programs.
Qualifications
Successfully completed Level 1 technician competency assessmentsNFPA 70E training or equivalent electrical safety certificationDemonstrated proficiency in electrical theory and PV system fundamentals2 years of experience with preventative maintenance procedures and troubleshooting techniques.Thermography training preferredStrong leadership and communication skills for safety meeting facilitationAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionMust maintain all Level 1 physical and safety requirementsPhysical Requirements
