Surgery - General Physician

The incumbent directs the staff and programs of the surgical department. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. Typically reports to the Chief of Staff. Manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. Typically requires several years of managerial experience.
