Position Objective
To develop and deliver a pipeline of major project specifications in the Northeast region by engaging with top-tier architects, façade engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders. The role focuses on establishing Draper as the Basis of Design across projects and building strong relationships to drive specification sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with architectural, design consultants, and engineering communities to promote Draper products, especially Solar Control Solutions (custom designed, complex shading).
- Consult with specifiers to write CSI 3-part specifications and provide technical drawings.
- Discuss with design consultants, architects, and engineers the technical performance of various shading systems and their components at a deep level to find the right project solution.
- Read and interpret construction documents and blueprints to influence design and functional intent.
- Track projects from inception to delivery using CRM tools, ensuring efficient lead management and forecasting.
- Provide technical advice on shading solutions, including façade performance analysis (glare, solar radiation), mechanical performance, aesthetics, and control systems.
- Represent Draper at industry events, presentations, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate quotations and order processing.
- Monitor market trends, competitor products, and pricing to inform strategy.
- Maintain relationships with internal project management, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
BA / BS in a design, technical, engineering, or construction-related field preferred.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of specification sales experience in building products, preferably in solar shading, façades, or related industries.Proven track record of converting specifications into orders.Experience working with top-tier architects, engineers, and contractors.Familiarity with construction industry processes from project initiation to post-completion.Management of architectural rep firms.Technical Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).Experience with CRM systems and ERP platforms.Ability to use BlueBeam or similar software for drawing annotations.Understanding of LEED / WELL accreditation and qualification processes.Ability to read and interpret manufacturing and construction drawings.Soft Skills
