Overview :

Safety Field Investigators are crucial in ensuring workplace and public safety by conducting inspections and investigations related to safety regulations and practices. They work across various environments to identify hazards, enforce compliance with safety standards, and recommend improvements.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This role does not have any direct reports.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Handles property damage claims of moderate severity and complexity as assigned and facilitates necessary repairs.
  • Documents dig requests through the JULIE mapping system.
  • Completes field inspection of losses, including accurate scope of damages, photographs, reports, and written estimates.
  • Investigate and evaluate all relevant facts to determine coverage, damages, and liability of property damage claims.
  • Secures recorded or written statements as appropriate.
  • Determines appropriate settlement amount based on independent judgment, computer-assisted building and contents estimate, estimation of actual cash value and replacement value, contractor estimate validation, appraisals, and application of applicable limits and deductibles.
  • Negotiates with multiple constituents, including homeowners, contractors, and vendors, and conveys claim settlements within authority limits.
  • Provides excellent customer service to meet the needs of all internal and external customers / business partners.
  • Other duties as assigned or prudent
  • Cross-train in all facets of the Safety Division, preparing to fill in for anyone absent and grow in responsibility and scope over time.

The person in this role will uphold the culture of J.F. Electric, including relationship building with customers as well as general behavior on J.F. Electric or client premises or at J.F. Electric-sponsored events.

Requirements / Qualifications :

  • A bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental health, or a related field is preferred.
  • One (1) or more years' experience handling property claims
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including effectively conveying and receiving information.
  • Investigative skills

    Physical Requirements :

  • Capable of working in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, or bend during inspections.
  • The physical requirements may vary depending on the industry and the specific nature of the work environment. The Lead Field Investigator should be capable of meeting the physical demands associated with the industry in which they operate.

    Travel Requirements :

  • Frequent travel is required to different sites for inspections.
