Job Title : Manufacturing Production Technician

Job Description

The Manufacturing Production Technician is responsible for operating various electric and pneumatic power tools such as circular saws, drills, grinders, and plasma cutters. The role involves welding aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel, as well as operating press brakes, shears, drill presses, band saws, hydraulic iron workers, radial arm saws, hydraulic hoists, and overhead cranes. This position requires physical activities such as crouching, bending, reaching, and walking.

Responsibilities

  • Operate electric power tools, including circular saws, drills, grinders, and plasma cutters.
  • Operate pneumatic power tools such as riveting guns, drills, grinders, sanders, cut-off grinders, punches, air hammers, and rivet clinchers.
  • Weld aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel.
  • Operate press brakes, shears, drill presses, band saws, hydraulic iron workers, radial arm saws, hydraulic hoists, and overhead cranes.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in using power tools and pneumatic tools.
  • Welding skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Physical ability to stand for 10 hours per day and lift 10 to 25 lbs over 2 / 3 of the day.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs approximately 2 / 3 of the day.
  • Skills in fabrication and mechanical repair.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn how to use hand tools, power tools, and weld / fabricate.
  • No required certifications, education, or experience.

    Work Environment

    This role is based in a manufacturing shop where employees consistently work near moving mechanical parts. The team consists of 120 production employees, typically working in groups of 2-5 people. The work attire includes steel toe / composite boots, jeans, and at minimum, a short sleeve shirt. Shorts, tank tops, or cut-offs are not permitted. The company provides personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Working hours are Monday through Friday, with a 1st shift from 5 : 00 am to 3 : 30 pm and a 2nd shift from 3 : 15 pm to 1 : 45 am, with availability for optional overtime on Saturdays or by coming in early / leaving late.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Story City, Iowa.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.50 / hr.
