Honors Student Engagement Coordinator

The University Honors Program (UHP) is seeking applications for a full-time Student Engagement Coordinator to join our office. This position oversees and executes student-focused events and programming, mentors student leaders in UHP Campus Life Programs, and provides support and coordination to our educational experiential programming, NEXUS, including our first-year experience. The successful candidate will be responsible both for continuing long-running, successful programming and, in consultation with students and staff, developing new programming and experiences for the over 2,200 students in the University Honors Program. Our programming line up currently includes everything from ice cream socials and trivia nights to faculty panels and a community tutoring program. This position can regularly accommodate up to two days of remote work per-week, with more flexibility available when classes are not in session. This position is regularly required to work during evenings to support student programming, with flexible working hours offered to compensate. Weekend work is possible but rare. This position works with a great deal of independence with regular check-ins with other staff. It is supervised by the Associate Director of Curriculum and Outreach. UHP has recently adopted a comprehensive DEI Strategic Plan. All staff members are expected to actively contribute to its execution and continued development. Job Duties :

  • Student Leadership Development and Student Group Advising (30%) Advises and supports University Honors Program (UHP) student groups including University Honors Student Association (UHSA) and its branches - Honors Multicultural Network (HMN), Mentor Program, etc. - on member selection, training, organizational management, program planning and execution, monitoring fiscal procedures, policy compliance, and dealing with conflict Attend weekly UHSA student group board meetings and supervise student-led events and programming Applies knowledge of student development theory to provide developmental supervision and mentorship for student leaders Coordinates between priorities of UHP and student groups, including identifying opportunities for collaboration and navigating potential conflict
  • Student Engagement Support and Programming (30%) Develops and executes programming and student events to foster community and achieve student learning outcomes for 2200+ student program - from initial planning to marketing to set-up and tear-down Supports in the planning of large annual UHP events as part of staff committees Notifies staff of event plans and provides direction to staff volunteers at events Assists in the evaluation and planning of student outcomes for UHP programs and events Recruits and selects program participants, members and volunteers using appropriate promotional or marketing methods
  • NEXUS Coordination - (25%) Coordinate logistics, finances, and administrative support for approximately 15 non-course educational NEXUS experiences Recruit and support faculty and staff facilitators of NEXUS Experiences, as well as providing direct oversight to a few sections and experiences each year Recruit, admit, track, and grant credit to student participants in experiences Collaborate with the Associate Director of Curriculum and Outreach and Director to develop new experiences that fit NEXUS criteria
  • Assessment and Evaluation - (10%) Assist Associate Director of Operations, Analytics and Assessment on assessment efforts related to UHP student experiences Develop and conduct UHP Student Survey on an ongoing basis Work with ADOAA to integrate surveys of UHP programming into broader assessment efforts
  • Additional Committee Work & Special Projects (5%) Work on special projects as need arises, or at the request of the Associate Director of Curriculum and Outreach or Director Serve on UHP committees as assigned by the Director Represent UHP at campus activity fairs and at prospective-student events Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

  • Required BA / BS With at least 2 years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive Applications
  • Preferred Experience working in a higher education environment Experience developing and implementing programming for college students Demonstrated creativity, flexibility and comfort in working with diverse populations Exceptionally strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to work both individually and as a team member Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at the same time Working knowledge of student development theory Experience with surveying and evaluation tools Experience with payment cards and financial reconciliation in a large organization
