Public Works Operations Manager

Job Opportunity

The City of Greenfield is seeking a dedicated professional for a full-time position within the Public Works Department. The role involves overseeing and coordinating various technical, field, and office support tasks related to the Public Works Divisions. Responsibilities include managing public works maintenance resources, planning activities, and providing support to the Public Works Director.

The position requires a combination of education, training, and experience in water, engineering, or related fields. Specifically, candidates should have two years of college or an Associate of Arts degree with major coursework in water, engineering, or a related field, along with three years of experience in construction contracting, public works, or similar areas. Alternatively, five years of experience in supervising and managing Public Works projects can substitute for up to two years of required education.

Required licenses and certifications include a valid California Class C driver's license, a State of California Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Distribution Operator Grade II, and a State of California Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate Grade II or higher. Candidates must also be able to obtain higher-level certifications by specified dates. Preferred qualifications include eligibility to test for California Water Environment Association (CWEA) wastewater Collection System Maintenance Grade I and Cross Connection Control Specialist Certificate.

The role demands the ability to work extended hours and respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
