The Role
Intern must be available to work full time (40 hours / week) during the 10-week program
Program Dates :
May 29 - August 7, 2026.
Location : This position is fully remote / work from home in the continental US.
Work Authorization : US Work Authorization required for this role.
Program eligibility is contingent on the candidate's commitment to the entire 10-week program. No exceptions will be made.
The Main Responsibilities
Lumen's Enterprise UX Design & Research Team is looking for a
Digital Accessibility & Inclusive Design Intern
to support our efforts in creating experiences that work for everyone-including people with disabilities and diverse needs.As an intern, you'll learn how inclusive design and accessibility are built into digital products. You'll assist with research, documentation, and testing, while gaining hands-on experience with industry standards and design tools
What You'll Learn and Do :
Support inclusive design practices
across product teams
Assist in accessibility testing
and help identify usability issues for people with different abilities
Learn how to apply accessibility guidelines
like WCAG in real-world design and development
Help document accessibility specs and annotations
for design components
Collaborate with UX Designers, Engineers, and Product Managers
to understand how accessibility fits into the product lifecycle
Participate in workshops and training sessions
led by internal and external experts.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required qualifications
Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior level education status at the start of the internship.
Graduating August 2026 - May 2028
Preferred fields include but not limited to : Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
Proficiency and understanding of :
Passionate about making digital experiences accessible to all users
Curious about inclusive design and eager to learn how it impacts product development
A good communicator and team collaborator
Detail-oriented and interested in how design decisions affect usability
Familiarity with basic accessibility concepts or tools (e.g., screen readers, contrast checkers) is a plus
Exposure to design tools like Figma or Miro is helpful but not required.
Compensation
Internship compensation ranges depend on each individual's level of education, geographic location, and experience / qualifications aligned to the role.
Hourly Based Pay Range :
Min : $ 26 / hour
Max : $ 38 / hour
