American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a 13-week night shift position on an acute Med / Surg Telemetry unit with a 1 : 5 ratio, requiring an AZ or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is located on a 49-bed acute Med / Surg Telemetry unitPatient population includes CHF, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint replacement, and COVID casesNurses care for a 1 : 5 patient ratioUses Cerner EMR, with RN telemetry strip interpretation required at least once per shiftWork schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts from 7pm to 7am; self-scheduling within four-week blocks, finalized by managementWeekend requirement is 2 weekends per 4-week scheduleHoliday requirement includes working a combination of days and eves over Christmas, New Year's, and ThanksgivingNurses may float to the East Campus and possibly PCU if qualifiedNo on-call or standby requiredNavy blue scrubs are requiredOne shift of on-unit orientation will be providedNurses are responsible for interpreting telemetry strips and signing off once per shiftNurses may not titrate drips but will manage set-rate medications like Diltiazem / CardizemNurse aides are present on the unit with typical ratios of 1 : 10-15BiPAP, CPAP, and breathing treatment equipment are used on the unitCharge nurses and house supervisors are available for supportHoliday work includes both day and eve requirements for major winter holidaysTesting on sterile techniques is performed during orientation, with a maximum of two attempts allowed for both Relias and sterile technique testsFirst time travelers are eligible to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required; pending licenses will not be acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent acute care RN experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications required (no pending certs accepted)Demonstrated skill in reading basic tele strips and experience with CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patientsCerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientationMust pass dysrhythmia exam (Relias) before contract is signedCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, PRN) with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities in the past year\n Benefits\n
