GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for all maintenance functions of the facility and equipment when the facility is in operation. He / She responds to equipment problems with a focus on bringing the plant back to operational status as quickly and safely as possible. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing or replacing equipment such as pumps, seals, gear boxes, chains, bearings, conveyors, augers etc. Troubleshooting malfunctions or breakdowns with mechanical, electrical & electrical controls, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor / Manager to find solutions to plant breakdowns and should keep his / her supervisor / manager informed of all issues related to the job function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and coordinate work ordersReads and interprets equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance and serviceAbility to perform root cause analysis and diagnose equipment to identify malfunctions and opportunities for process improvements and recommendations to enhance equipment performanceWill use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.Maintain plant safety, housekeeping standards, and quality checks within the manufacturing environment, and keep the shop and all major maintenance areas neat and safe.Follows lock out / Tag out practices and policy’sAssist Maintenance Supervisor with special projectsWorks closely with production to report on machine break and estimate repair time.Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on various equipment and building maintenance.Ability to safely operate forklift and lifts.Other duties as assignedWORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Shop Experience (welding, mig / tig sanitary, fabrication layout and design)Strong general mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot.Knowledge processing equipment and the entire process and flow of plant operationsKnowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repairKnowledge of boilers and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repairKnowledge of water softeners, testing practices and their operationAble to read and interpret blueprints & schematicsAbility to troubleshoot electrical & controlsAbility to troubleshoot pneumatics & hydraulicsPrevious experience with a CMMS is a plusAbility to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure proper communication with the plant and management personnel.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
