Location : Redmond, WA

Department : Facilities

Reports to : Facilities Director

Employment Type : Full-Time

Schedule : Normal Maintenance Hours 7am - 5pm weekends included

Compensation : $25 – $35 / hour

Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in keeping our bakery production facility and retail locations in excellent condition. This role is focused on building and facility upkeep including drywall repair, painting, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, light carpentry, fixture installation, and general maintenance projects. This technician will not be responsible for food production equipment, but will instead ensure our physical spaces remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver, able to work independently, travel to multiple sites, and complete projects with quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Facility Upkeep & Repairs

  • Perform routine inspections of facilities and respond to maintenance needs promptly.
  • Complete repairs and upkeep tasks such as drywall patching, painting, fixture installation, basic plumbing, and light electrical work.
  • Support furniture and fixture installation projects at the production facility and retail locations.

Preventative Maintenance & Projects

  • Carry out preventative maintenance to ensure facilities remain safe and operational.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
  • Assist with larger facility projects as assigned by management.

    • Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Always maintain a safe working environment, reporting hazards or issues as they arise.

    • Travel & Support Across Locations

  • Travel to Blazing Bagels retail locations as needed to complete facility repairs and upkeep.
  • Provide on-site support for urgent issues or emergencies, including occasional on-call responsibilities.

    • Other Duties

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, both on-site and at retail locations.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with managers and team members to resolve facility issues quickly and efficiently.

    • Qualifications

    Required :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with general building maintenance (drywall, painting, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, fixture installation).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License (or ability to obtain one).

    • Preferred / Bonus Skills :

  • Specialized trade skills (e.g., electrical, welding, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC).
  • Experience with commercial property or multi-site facility maintenance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Excel).
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

    • Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to access all areas of the facility and retail sites in varying conditions.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, or climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional travel between sites is required.
  • Be available on-call to address emergencies.
