Reports To : Department / Branch Manager

General Summary :

The Library Associate, under the general direction of the Branch / Department Manager, assists with reference questions, collection maintenance, and planning and implementing in-branch and outreach teen programs. As a Library Associate, you must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, as a great part of this job will involve interacting with the local community.

Responsibilities :

• Assist teens and tweens in use of library resources and technology.
• Demonstrate knowledge, appreciation, and understanding of Middle Grade and Teen materials, both print and electronic.
• Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision, helping patrons locate and check out materials.
• Assist with reference questions, collection maintenance, and shelving of books and other library materials.
• Proactively seek out customers to help in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication).
• Assist with planning and implementing in-branch and outreach programs as well as passive programs for middle and high school students.
• Participate as needed in system-wide Teen Services projects, activities, and meetings such as monthly Teen Services meetings and the Summer Reading Program.
• Create Middle Grade and Teen booklists and book displays and provide technology assistance and demonstrations.
• Assist with Community Hub Services such as the rental assistance program, vaccine clinics, voting process, as well as other programs and services provided by CCPL.
• Assist the public in the use of technology, including software, online tools, and mobile devices.
• Demonstrate good listening and communication skills, present a positive attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and prioritize customer service.
• Be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

$37,897.60 - $42,702.40 annually commensurate with education and experience.
