Position Summary

THIS IS A TIME LIMITED POSITION. UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Department of Nutrition recently received funding to implement two exciting research studies—the All of Us Research Program and the first All of Us ancillary study, Nutrition for Precision Health (NPH). All of Us is a NIH-funded program to build a diverse health database with a goal of recruiting at least one million participants. A subset of participants will be recruited into NPH to develop algorithms that predict individual responses to diet. The UNC Clinical Center (UNC-CC) is one of six clinical centers across the country enabling data collection at two locations in Chapel Hill and Kannapolis. The Research Assistant will work under the general supervision of the Research Project Manager and Site Coordinator, performing a variety of duties; primary and secondary duties will vary as the study progresses.

Responsibilities

  • Communication with study participants (English and Spanish-speaking) for recruitment and retention
  • Data collection including obtaining informed consent, biospecimen collection, study measurements, and participant instructions
  • Assist with participant meal pick-up for the controlled feeding study
  • Assist with other study activities to ensure successful study completion
  • Processing and shipping of biological specimens (blood, urine, saliva, and other specimens)
  • Our goal is to work as a cohesive team to ensure successful implementation of study protocols. On-site work is anticipated with primary location at 1700 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Chapel Hill, and possible support at the Kannapolis site.

    Minimum Education And Experience

    Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

    Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

  • Spanish language skills to communicate with Spanish-speaking participants
  • Willingness to be trained in and follow study-specific protocols
  • Exceptionally strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining safety and data quality
  • Excellent computing skills including experience with Microsoft Office 365 and study data management
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Previous research data collection experience
