What does a Trauma Therapist - Children's Advocacy Center do?
The Resource Connection of Amador & Calaveras Counties, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Trauma Therapist for Children for a regular full or part-time position. We are in search of passionate individuals who are licensed LCSWs, MFTs or LOPCCs with at least five years of experience in social services, specifically in child trauma.
In this pivotal role, you will provide both group and individual therapeutic services to children affected by abuse, fostering healing through tailored treatment plans. You will educate families and caregivers on the emotional impacts of crime, while also developing and implementing effective treatment strategies using appropriate assessment tools. Additionally, you will maintain knowledge of community resources, and supervise interns when qualified.

What matters most
To excel as a Trauma Therapist for Children at The Resource Connection, candidates must possess a Licensed LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC in good standing with the Board of Behavioral Sciences, along with a minimum of five years of experience, ideally working with children who have endured trauma. Bilingual skills are preferred, enhancing communication with diverse populations. The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crisis situations is essential, as is a collaborative approach when coordinating with staff, government agencies, and community organizations. Flexibility and adaptability to change are crucial, as is the capability to articulate ideas clearly and facilitate group therapy sessions.
Basic public speaking skills will support effective communication. Candidates must be prepared to work irregular hours, travel as needed, and possess a valid California driver's license along with reliable transportation. Lastly, successful candidates will need to pass a criminal record clearance, ensuring the safety and well-being of the clients served.
