JOB PURPOSE / SUMMARY

HomeRiver is looking for a full-time Vice President of Accounting. This is a dynamic role within a fast-moving organization and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This individual will be the key leader of the Property Accounting, Cash Applications and Corporate Accounting departments managing a team of approximately 25+ team onshore members and 30+ offshore members. This position requires an experienced and strategic self-starter with the ability to successfully lead and manage a growing department and enact change to continually improve accuracy, performance and customer experience . This is a fully remote position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to property owner accounting team, driving operational excellence.
  • Ensure complete and accurate financial statements and associated reporting is generated for property owners within the established deadlines for each monthly, quarterly, and yearly close cycle.
  • Collaborate with HRG business leaders and Operations to integrate new business initiatives in the property management system.
  • Oversee team's asset level month-end closing process for +20 institutional client's assets including reviewing journal entries, related schedules, and consolidated financial reports in adherence with GAAP.
  • Serve as the primary contact and support for property Owners for all accounting related matters including cash flows, owner expenses, and special requests.
  • Utilize accounting and property management system technologies in a forward-thinking manner to continue to drive new business efficiencies and department solutions.
  • Review opening balance sheet and closing balance sheet entries for newly acquired / disposed assets to ensure equity, debt and current assets and liabilities are recorded / pro-rated accurately.
  • Oversee treasury operations and cash forecasting.
  • Supervises accounting and finance department for a specified market or set of markets.
  • Ensures market financial statements are delivered on-time and accurately each month.
  • Ensures the accounting calendar is maintained and kept up each month by all accounting staff.
  • Handles any escalated corporate or client needs as they relate to accounting and financial statements.
  • Create and maintain open lines of communication with leaders of other departments to build a cooperative atmosphere across departments.
  • Oversee annual financial audit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
  • 10+ years in Accounting or Finance, with at least 5+ years supervising a large team.
  • 3+ years of proven leadership in property management, preferably with single family residences.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and drive to provide superior customer service to all parties.
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial property management setting.
  • Experience managing large offshore processing team.
  • Knowledge of regulations over property management.
  • Experience with PropertyWare a plus.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to prioritize, handle multiple assignments, exercise judgment, and take ownership of projects in the absence of direct supervision.
  • Team player with strong work ethic, pro-active orientation, who can anticipate needs, is assertive, and is highly accountable, with a mature and positive attitude.
