The Softball Coach must have the ability to run the entire softball program, teach skills, hire outstanding assistants, and make connections with players, families and the entire DSHA community. In addition, it is expected that the new Head Softball Coach will have a strong sense of how to maximize the teams' talent and move the program to the next level. Communication with the Athletic Director, Student-Athletes and Parents is an important part of the position, as well as the ability to plan and support the athletic program and athletic policies.
Qualifications
It is expected that the successful candidate will have several years of coaching experience, preferably at the varsity level. To succeed at the high school level, the Softball Coach must understand the importance of education-based athletics, be able to communicate clearly and respectfully to young student-athletes and their families, and be able to create a coaching staff that will work well together and enlist their help to run a successful program at the JV2, JV and Varsity levels. The candidate must also have a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student-athletes, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work amiably with student-athletes, administrators, and faculty.
