Overview

We’re seeking a Design Manager to lead one of Figma’s newest frontiers : Expressive Design. This team is built around three core areas : Interaction Design, Expressive AI, and Vectors. You’ll push boundaries with vectors, shaders, generative AI, and traditional drawing tools, creating new building blocks and reimagining how people design and build. Formed after the Modyfi acquisition, the group has the talent and technical ability to ship fast and push the boundaries of the Figma platform.

This role will stretch you as a design leader and partner to Product and Engineering. You’ll define vision in an open space, shape how new technologies meet real user needs, and build tools that let teams create expressive, memorable experiences at scale.

You’ll also work with exceptional builders, including founders and former CEOs, who bring deep technical expertise and high craft. This is a humble, ambitious team with a proven track record of shipping.

This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

• Manage and hire a group of world-class designers
• Partner with Product and Engineering leads in this area to improve team processes and execution and coach individual teams through setting roadmap and strategy
• Develop a perspective on your teams’ product areas and successfully advocate for it across the organization
• Run and improve team processes like critiques and sprints
• Advance your own skills at people management in a supportive and growth-oriented environment
• Be actively involved in the work; manage people and help oversee strategy and execution

Pay Transparency and Benefits

Pay transparency : If based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York hub offices, this role has the annual base salary range stated below.

Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 80% and 100% of range. Please discuss your specific work location with your recruiter for more information.

Annual Base Salary Range (SF / NY Hub) : $198,000 — $338,000 USD
