American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring an active IL RN license and proficiency with Cerner.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospitalNight shifts available : 3x12 or 4x12 (18 : 00–6 : 30)Patient census averages 35 per shiftLevel II Trauma Center with 372 staffed bedsUtilizes Cerner for charting; Cerner experience requiredFloating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitalsEvery other weekend is required; no on-call responsibilitiesAccepts local candidates with no radius restrictionDuties include comprehensive care for diverse Med / Surg patients, involvement with rapid response teams, and management of cardiac, GI, GU / renal, respiratory and wound care casesTeam structure includes interdisciplinary collaboration in a busy, high-acuity unitBlue, black, or gray scrubs requiredMust be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidaysMust not exceed 5 days of non-holiday requested time off without facility approvalFree parking available with permit upon orientationFirst-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration or evidence of application in processMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg RN experience requiredBLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI not accepted)Proficiency with remote telemetry, rapid response teams, and emergency responseExperience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre / post hemodialysis, renal failure, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central / PICC line management, and blood product administrationCompetence in Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medication administrationSkilled in respiratory interventions : CPAP / BiPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy management, and portable oxygen equipmentKnowledge in wound care, isolation precautions, and wound vac useCerner charting experience requiredPermanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler\n Benefits\n
