Position Overview :
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides comprehensive patient care services attending to psychosocial, physical, and general care needs. Working within their licensed scope and under the supervision or delegation of a Registered Nurse (RN), physician, or authorized healthcare provider, the LPN implements healthcare plans to deliver compassionate, professional care. The LPN actively demonstrates UNCH-A Mission, Vision, and Values through effective communication, personal accountability, and collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Compensation is commensurate upon education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $23.19 / hour.

Key Responsibilities :
Provide patient care under the supervision or delegation of RNs or physicians, implementing prescribed care plans.Attend to patients’ psychosocial and physical needs with compassion and professionalism.Communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians, and leadership.Adhere to ARHS policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior.Support a healthy work environment through collaboration and professional conduct.Assist coworkers, patients, families, and visitors within scope of practice.Position Requirements :
Minimum Education :
Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.Experience :
Previous LPN experience preferred.Healthcare experience in acute or clinic settings preferred.Required Registration / License / Certification :
Current, valid LPN licensure in North Carolina.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required at hire.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Thorough knowledge of LPN scope of practice.Effective, courteous communication skills within the chain of command.Ability to provide safe, competent patient care consistent with license and hospital policies.Familiarity with continuum of nursing care and exceptional customer service.Physical Demands :
Ability to lift, position, push, pull, and transfer patients and equipment over 50 pounds.Manual dexterity and mobility required.Prolonged standing, walking, sitting; bending, squatting, twisting, and turning.Near visual acuity for close work (20 inches or less).Working Conditions :
Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and healthcare hazards including chemicals and specimens.Frequent exposure to electrical / mechanical equipment and environmental hazards.May work irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations.Physical stamina for extended shifts and patient mobilization.Exposure to vibration, cramped spaces, and repetitive manual tasks.Potential exposure to ionizing / non-ionizing radiation including x-rays and microwaves.About UNC Health Appalachian
