Must-Have :

• Fingernail policy : Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated within the past year.
• Driver's license required.

Description :

The unit consists of 22 beds.

Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4.

Common diagnoses include heart failure, afib, respiratory distress, and stroke.

RNs are required to titrate drips.

Common titratable and / or set rate drips include Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro.

A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a full patient assignment.

There are patient care technicians on this unit with a ratio of 1 : 10.

RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips.

RNs must have experience with CPAP and troubleshoot equipment when needed.

Shifts and scheduling include cyclic scheduling with shifts from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700.

Weekend requirements are every other weekend; holiday requirements include one major and one minor holiday.

RNs may need to float to ICU if appropriate and if they have experience.

The department requires a positive attitude, teamwork, and a patient-centered approach.

This is a fast-paced unit with many admissions and discharges.

Additional time-off requests must be submitted upfront, and further requests will not be approved.

The charting system used is EPIC.

A BSN is required for submission.

This unit operates under a trauma level of 3.

Care is provided in an acute setting.
