American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a SD or compact license and comfort caring for high-acuity obstetric patients.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED triage beds, and 4 antepartum roomsCare for a wide spectrum of patients including high-risk and low-intervention pregnancies, antepartum, OB triage / ED, postpartum, and infantsUnit supports Level 3 NICU; requires experience managing high-acuity labor patients and preterm deliveriesAssigned patient ratios : antepartum 1 : 3, inactive labor 1 : 2, active labor 1 : 1, postpartum / couplet 1 : 3 coupletsMust be available to work 12-hour variable shifts, including both days and nights throughout the contractWeekend rotation required every other weekend; holiday coverage as neededNo on-call requiredMust be comfortable caring for postpartum / couplet patients throughout the contractUses EPIC for chartingResponsibilities include high-acuity labor management, care for preeclampsia, preterm labor, and antepartum patients less than 35 weeks gestationSupport staff includes unit secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, VAT team, RT (24 / 7), OB physician team, and anesthesia / CRNAFour-day preceptor orientation provided (three in L&D, one in postpartum)Cobalt blue scrubs are provided by the hospitalFree parking availableApproval required for time off requestsNo local travelers accepted; candidates must reside outside a 100-mile radius\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license for South Dakota or compact stateCompletion of a nursing program approved by a board of nursingMinimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience, preferably in a Level 3 or higher L&D unitCurrent BLS and NRP certifications requiredACLS, inpatient obstetrics certification, electronic fetal monitoring, and inpatient antepartum certifications preferredCompetency with IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate, blood administration, insulin administration, and C-section circulation and recoveryEPIC charting experience preferredLevel 2 nursery baby experience highly preferredMust be able to care for both laboring and couplet patientsFirst-time travelers will be considered\n Benefits\n
