Overview

The City of Sebastopol invites applications for the position of Police Officer. This is a full-time position with an eligibility list. Salary : $88,744 - $107,872 annually ($7,395 - $8,989 monthly). Plus an excellent benefits package. Open until filled.

Responsibilities

The Police Officer's duties are to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work. Full-time permanent positions of Police Officers serve an eighteen (18) month probationary period. The Police Officer will demonstrate cultural competency working with all community members regardless of differences, including race, ethnicity, religion, language, gender identity, age, marital and familial status, sexual orientation, diverse physical and learning abilities, socioeconomic status, and other identities.

Qualifications

Education : Possession of a High School diploma or GED or High School Equivalency certificate.

Experience : One to three months related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

License and Certifications :

Character and Background : The selected candidate will undergo a standard Police Background investigation including fingerprinting, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, and complete physical exam with drug screening. The investigation must show traits including initiative, alertness, integrity, reliability, courtesy, and good judgment; and has not been convicted of any felony or misdemeanors involving moral turpitude.

Selection Process : Applications will be reviewed in detail to identify the most qualified candidates to be invited to a multiple-choice exam. Those who score the highest on the exam will move forward to an oral panel interview. The selected candidate will be required to pass a P.O.S.T physical agility test; if you have proof of passing within the last two years from the academy or another agency, including a wall climb, you may be exempt.
