Overview
The Associate Director (AD), Commercial Data Management (CDM) within Data Enablement (DE) for Business Analysis (BA) is accountable for strategically partnering with key functional areas to onboard and manage commercial data assets throughout the data lifecycle. The CDMs will be data owners and provide strategic input and direction to business partners on all aspects of the data, from capturing and documenting metadata to developing data ingestion and onboarding requirements through retention and archiving. This role will also be accountable for providing input into the development of processes and tools that will aid in building and shaping the CDM capability. The AD CDM will collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their needs and to optimize the manageability, flexibility, and utility of Otsuka's data assets.
Responsibilities
Providing direction and synthesizing the needs of key stakeholders into clear requirements and execution plans.
Serve as a point of escalation for CDM activities and work with the Director, CDM and other DE roles to improve CDM processes.
Own gathering metadata and contextual information to catalog new data sources.
Work with the DE Data Quality & Standards capability to apply quality principles and best practices to data assets.
Monitor industry data trends.
Support an enterprise-wide CDM framework with emphasis on policies, standards, guiding principles, metrics, tools, and data architecture.
Serve as a liaison between business, functional, and technology groups to ensure data requirements are clearly defined and understood for prioritization and planning.
Define performance indicators and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data policies for purchased data.
Collaborate with the Data Scouting leads to inform requirements for new data assets and provide input into contracting as necessary.
Function as a knowledge base and resource to project teams.
Model and coach engagement best practices that enable thought partnership and a collaborative Data Enablement culture.
Foster a culture that embraces the strategic use of data in decision making to enable greater business outcomes.
Balance innovation with discipline and act as a champion of value-add change to inspire others.
Qualifications
Required
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry within data operations / data management environments.
Significant experience with commercial third-party data assets (e.g., Xponent Plantrak, DDD, HCOS, Claims Data, Specialty pharma, omnichannel data, Salesforce / Veeva, etc.).
Strong working knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional / relational databases.
Ability to manage ambiguity and day-to-day operational challenges.
Ability to translate business concepts to technical terms and vice versa.
Experience supporting change efforts and driving results through influence and relationships.
High integrity and strong work ethics.
Results-oriented with the ability to drive operations to completion.
Ability to handle adversity and challenging situations, and to develop cooperative working relationships.

Education / Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Minimum 8-10 years of data-related experience within the pharmaceutical industry
Preferred
Masters in Computer Science, MIS, Information Management or related

Compensation
Minimum $164,530.00 - Maximum $245,985.00, plus incentive opportunity. Actual pay is determined by experience, skills, and internal benchmarks.
